Sun Claims Victory Over WLF as Stablecoin Freeze Dispute Escalates
Justin Sun claimed he won a significant victory in a hearing against World Liberty Financial (WLF), but WLF denies any win. The dispute centers on whether the issuer can freeze user funds, a power crucial for stablecoins widely used in exchange and settlement networks.
The case started when Justin Sun accused WLF of withholding $45 million in tokens after he rejected an investment offer. WLF claimed it froze the funds due to suspicious activities on the blockchain and Sun's signature on a Token Unlock Agreement.
On August 20, Sun stated that his lawyers opposed WLF's request for secret arbitration and confidentiality. However, Zach Witkoff, co-founder of World Liberty, denied Sun's claims, saying the court did not issue any orders and that several claims should go to arbitration.
