Sun Wins Court Battle to Keep World Liberty Lawsuit Public
Justin Sun has won a significant court battle in California federal court, where a judge ruled that his individual claims against World Liberty Financial will remain open to public scrutiny. The decision rejects World Liberty's request to move the dispute into private arbitration and seal case documents.
Sun alleges that World Liberty built hidden backdoor controls into its smart contract, allowing the team to freeze or burn token holdings at will. He also claims that the same backdoor functions exist in the USD1 stablecoin. Sun questions whether World Liberty has enough capital to cover a judgment worth hundreds of millions.
Sun invested $45 million in WLFI tokens and is seeking hundreds of millions in damages. The judge's decision allows Sun's lawsuit to proceed in open court, with some claims still subject to arbitration. Sun described the outcome as evidence that token holders deserve visibility into how projects treat their investors.
