Suno’s c-uWatt Brings Solar Energy Yields to Ethereum
c-uWatt, or Compounding uWatt, represents the yield-bearing vault share of Suno, a protocol that tokenizes solar energy on the Ethereum blockchain. Users obtain c-uWatt by depositing uWatt, Suno's dollar-denominated base token, into its ERC-4626 staking vault. The yield from these deposits accumulates based on the amount of uWatt each share can redeem, with no separate rewards to claim. Rewards are funded by revenue from solar projects and liquid investments, with some income retained to support the Reserve's backing.
The yield from c-uWatt is variable and vests over time. The token is issued on the Ethereum mainnet, and its bridged version, xc-uWatt, extends its functionality to other supported networks via Suno's LayerZero bridge. This architecture is designed for Ethereum L2s and other chains, ensuring each xc-uWatt is backed 1:1 by c-uWatt locked on Ethereum.
Staking and secondary transfers of c-uWatt do not require on-chain KYC checks. However, redeeming the underlying uWatt through the Desk necessitates verification and is subject to fees, liquidity constraints, and daily limits. Suno's eligibility terms continue to apply, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
