Supermicro Powers Giant AI Data Center with Nvidia GPU Systems
Supermicro and SpaceXAI are collaborating on what could become one of the largest AI data centers on the planet, aiming for gigawatt-scale capacity. The project will utilize Nvidia's latest GPU systems, specifically the Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-level system designed for dense AI workloads.
The partnership is built on Supermicro's Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS), which provide modular infrastructure that can be deployed and scaled quickly. These systems are paired with direct liquid cooling technology, allowing dense GPU racks to operate without overheating.
SpaceXAI was formed in February 2026 after Elon Musk's standalone AI venture, xAI, was acquired by SpaceX. The entity has a roadmap calling for more than 2 GW of computational power by the end of 2026 and nearly 10 GW by late 2027.
