The Supreme Court of Canada has agreed to examine whether an Ontario court had jurisdiction to freeze cryptocurrency in an alleged fraud case.

Three Nigerian citizens are accused of defrauding a person in Canada out of about $65,000 in Bitcoin. The Ontario attorney general applied for orders to restrain and manage the virtual currency, allegedly held by the suspects.

The Supreme Court's decision to review the matter raises questions about the jurisdictional authority of lower courts to handle cryptocurrency-related cases.
