Switchboard Deprecates Oracle Tools Ahead of September Deadline
Switchboard Technology Labs Inc. has deprecated its oracle implementations and urged affected protocols to migrate before September 25, according to reports on the announcement.
The deprecated oracle tools will no longer receive technical support after this deadline, and protocols relying on Switchboard must move their integrations immediately to other oracle providers.
According to Solana Compass, the following Solana decentralized finance protocols must migrate their oracle integrations: Kamino Finance, Jito, MarginFi, and Drift Protocol. Pyth Network and RedStone are listed as alternative providers.
Switchboard is a permissionless network that allowed users to create custom data feeds without gatekeeping, processing 'hundreds of millions' of data requests each week and supporting more than 550 unique feeds across 53 distinct programs on Solana and 10 other chains.
The deprecation followed an earlier suspension outside Solana, which occurred around August 29-30. The reports attributed Switchboard's decision to lower oracle-development costs enabled by artificial-intelligence tools, prolonged weakness in the crypto market, and direct data partnerships that bypass intermediary oracle networks.
