Symbiosis Recovers $1.1 Million After Bridge Hack, Offers 20% Bounty
Cross-chain liquidity protocol Symbiosis has recovered 15 Bitcoin, valued at around $1.1 million, after an exploit on its Bitcoin bridge last Friday.
The attacker is believed to have minted 46.1 billion unbacked tokens from the bridge, but only realized a net profit of approximately $336,000 in Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC).
Symbiosis has deposited the recovered funds into a team-controlled multi-signature wallet and has assured users that all routes remain operational, although the native Bitcoin bridge remains paused.
The protocol is offering a 20% bounty for information leading to asset recovery, which extends beyond an earlier white-hat return deadline that expired on Sunday.
