TAC Staking Pool Drained by 28.6% in Coordinated Hack
A large-scale hack drained 28.6% of the supply from TAC's staking pool, resulting in the theft of 2.986 billion tokens.
The attack occurred on August 22 at 19:46:37 UTC, with the hacker exploiting a vulnerability in the shared Cosmos EVM module to steal tokens from the staking pool.
TAC's monitoring controls continued to work throughout the attack, but were unable to detect the theft due to its unique nature.
The hacker moved the stolen tokens through a bridge, with 1.208 billion TAC being exchanged for 950,293 USDT on BNB Chain and another 49.9 million TAC sold through TON for 55,481 USDT, resulting in total proceeds of approximately $1.006 million.
