Tachyon Upgrade Progress: Zcash Developers Rebuild Faster Private-Payment Code
Zcash developers have made progress on their proposed scaling upgrade called Tachyon. To prepare for increased usage, they are rebuilding the faster private-payment code into Zakura Common software.
The upgrade aims to limit the network's workload by combining proofs from multiple payments, reducing the data each node needs to receive and check.
Udon is a new component that has been released, bringing some of Tachyon's calculations into Common. This integration does not yet demonstrate the speed gains promised by Tachyon.
The upgrade still requires further development and a security review before it can be activated on Zcash. The developers' long-term target for scaling is more than 50,000 payments per second, which would put significant strain on today's cryptography.
