Taiwan Introduces Identifying Information for Crypto Transfers Over $1,320
Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) is implementing the Travel Rule for cryptocurrency transfers, which requires identifying information to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
The rule will apply to transactions exceeding NT$30,000 (approximately $1,320), with individuals needing to provide their date of birth and address, while corporate entities must submit an official identification number and registered address.
Receiving providers will verify the transmitted information against existing customer records for transactions above NT$30,000.
The initial application is limited to domestic VASPs, with plans to expand to include transfers involving overseas providers by the end of 2027.
