$TAO Price Surges on Bittensor's Tighter Supply Narrative
The price of Bittensor's token, $TAO, has surged by over 10% in recent trading sessions, breaking above a descending trendline and reclaiming the $218-$236 moving-average cluster. This move comes after a series of changes to the network's monetary structure, including a halving event that reduced base emissions from 1 $TAO to 0.5 $TAO per block.
According to Barry Silbert, the comparison between Bittensor and Bitcoin lies not in their price, but rather in their ability to create an open market for decentralized money and intelligence, respectively. Bittensor's AI Economy is attempting to establish a similar concept, where subnets compete for emissions and capital.
The V440 Emission Gate has introduced a more selective framework for subnet rewards, directing emissions according to performance and demand rather than allowing weaker subnets to capture the same economic weight. This change has resulted in a tighter supply narrative for $TAO holders.
With derivatives data indicating stronger activity, the breakout above $250 has put the $270-$275 region and eventually $300 on the radar if buyers can maintain control. However, elevated leverage can accelerate a reversal if the breakout fails, with the daily RSI around 72 showing strong momentum but also an increasingly stretched market.
