Tech Giants Apple and Google Explore Stablecoin Integration
Apple and Google have begun to explore the concept of stablecoins as part of their digital payments strategy, according to recent job postings.
The Apple Pay Financial Product Strategy Lead role requires an understanding of stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain technology. This is in contrast to earlier views on digital assets as a distant research topic rather than a live payments question.
Meanwhile, Google has posted a Hong Kong-based Web3 architect position that aligns with the city's new licensing regime for fiat-referenced stablecoin issuers.
The distinction between these roles is significant, as job postings are planning documents that show what skills a company wants on staff. However, this does not necessarily mean that Apple or Google will issue their own consumer stablecoins or tokens.
