Deutsche Telekom is set to enter the world of Bitcoin mining after years of expanding its presence in the crypto space. According to a recent announcement, the German telecommunications giant will start mining Bitcoin, marking its biggest foray into the sector yet.

The company has been quietly building up its cryptocurrency credentials since last year, starting with Polygon validation and later launching its own Bitcoin Lightning Network nodes this year. Its move into Bitcoin mining is seen as a significant development in the crypto market, particularly given Ethereum's shift to Proof-of-Stake (PoS) in 2022.

'Mining is like digital monetary photosynthesis,' joked Dirk Röder, head of Web3 infrastructure and solutions at Deutsche Telekom. The company's decision to enter Bitcoin mining has been met with positive market reaction, with analyst BTCGandalf calling it 'staggering'.
