Telegram Reinstated in India After Brief App Store Delisting

Telegram's app store listings were restored after a brief delisting in India, triggered by government orders to prevent exam paper leaks. The company was reinstated on June 23, with its official messenger app now available on the US Apple App Store.

The Indian government had ordered Telegram's removal under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, citing concerns about leaked question papers for the NEET-UG re-examination. Network-level blocks were also implemented, disrupting users who already had the app installed.

As a result of this incident, any threat to Telegram's distribution is now seen as a potential threat to The Open Network (TON) and its associated token Toncoin. This tight coupling between the platform and the crypto economy makes regulatory actions in key markets increasingly significant.
