Telegram Unveils World's Largest Non-Custodial Crypto Wallet for 1 Billion Users
Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, has announced plans to roll out the world's largest non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet to its 1 billion users this summer. The new Gram wallet will be integrated directly into every version of the messaging app, enabling instant, zero-fee crypto transactions as a seamless part of everyday communication.
The move builds on Telegram's ongoing integration with The Open Network (TON) blockchain and its native token, Gram. A web version of the wallet is already live, allowing users to create or import wallets for storing and sending GRAM, jettons, and NFTs through browsers.
Durov's vision aims to eliminate common barriers to entry for non-crypto-native audiences, particularly in regions with high Telegram adoption. By retaining full control over their private keys, users will be able to manage their own recovery phrases, reducing reliance on third parties.
The integration is expected to accelerate crypto literacy and usage patterns, especially for everyday payments and remittances in emerging markets where Telegram is a primary communication tool.
