Tesla Nears $1 Billion Milestone as Bitcoin Holdings Soar
Tesla's Bitcoin holdings have reached near $1 billion after a strong weekly rally that pushed the cryptocurrency above $87,000. This puts the company within striking distance of a major milestone.
The value of Tesla's Bitcoin stash has increased by about $122.6 million over the past week due to the 14% price appreciation of BTC. This increase is solely due to the rise in Bitcoin's price and not from any new purchases made by the company, which still holds a static 11,509 coins.
At its current valuation, Tesla's Bitcoin holdings are only about $5.1 million away from reaching the $1 billion mark. The company initially entered the Bitcoin market in 2021 with a $1.5 billion investment and briefly accepted BTC as payment for vehicles before suspending this option later that year.
Bitcoin's recent rally has also produced mixed signals from market indicators, with Cryptoquant's analyst Axel Adler Jr. stating that the current signals are less decisive. Bloomberg strategist Mike McGlone has questioned whether Bitcoin's earlier low near $60,000 marked the bottom of the current cycle and believes it may face another steep decline.
