Tesla's Bitcoin Holdings Nearing $1 Billion Mark
Tesla's Bitcoin holdings have reached a significant milestone, nearing $1 billion in value. The company holds 11,509 BTC, currently valued at approximately $994.90 million, following a 14% weekly increase in the price of Bitcoin. This marks a substantial gain of around $122.62 million.
Tesla initially invested in Bitcoin in early 2021, when it disclosed a $1.5 billion investment and briefly allowed customers to purchase vehicles using the cryptocurrency before ending the payment option later that year.
The company's subsequent reduction in its position resulted in the disposal of a substantial portion of its holdings in 2022, generating approximately $936 million from the sale. Tesla has retained a smaller Bitcoin treasury since then, with the current balance standing at 11,509 BTC.
