Tesla's Optimus Factory at Giga Texas Nears Completion with 5,000 Robot Order
Tesla's Optimus manufacturing facility at Giga Texas is rapidly advancing, with recent aerial surveillance revealing steel framework nearing completion. The facility's construction began six months ago and aims to achieve high-capacity production by summer 2027.
In a significant development, Tesla has placed an inaugural large-scale order for approximately 5,000 Optimus robots with its supplier network, marking the first order at thousand-unit scale. This procurement order demonstrates that Optimus has transitioned from experimental prototype phase to scalable production methodology.
Tesla is also conducting comprehensive supply chain evaluations with partners located throughout Chinese metropolitan areas, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Ningbo. The company's objective is to minimize transportation duration and supply chain interruptions between the manufacturing facility and semiconductor production at Terafab.
