Tether and Circle Freeze Small Portion of Stolen Bitget Funds

Circle and Tether have frozen a small portion of the funds stolen in the Bitget hack, which saw attackers make off with $351.6 million.

The freeze affects about $318,000 worth of USDT and USDC held in a wallet linked to the hackers.

This represents only a tiny fraction of the stolen assets, as other linked wallets still hold more than 63,000 ETH that cannot be frozen.

Circle's swift action contrasts with its response to April's Drift hack, which sparked criticism for allowing around $232 million in USDC to move across chains without intervention.
