Tether and Shiga Launch Self-Custody Products in Africa and GCC
Tether and Shiga are collaborating to create self-custody financial products for Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council region. The proposed services will allow individuals and institutions to manage their own private keys, giving them control over their assets.
The products, ENTA and Pulse, will use Tether's Wallet Development Kit and provide wallet infrastructure and local payment connections. This means users will be able to hold Bitcoin, USDT, and Tether Gold in a single interface.
A key aspect of self-custody is that users retain control over their credentials, reducing dependence on platforms for transaction authorization. However, this also emphasizes the importance of recovery arrangements, device security, and understanding user responsibilities.
