Tether Backs Colombian Fintech Platform Plenti for Latin America Expansion
Plenti, a Colombian fintech platform, has secured $3 million in seed funding from Tether and Verda Ventures to expand its operations across Latin America. Founded in 2022, Plenti offers a global multicurrency account that allows users to move digital dollars, fund international brokerage accounts, and invest fractionally in US stocks and crypto assets.
The platform has already processed over $3.1 billion in annual transaction volume, with more than 150,000 people and businesses using its services. With the new funding, Plenti plans to consolidate its operations in Colombia and finance its expansion into Peru and Bolivia.
Tether's investment comes as digital dollar platforms gain traction across Latin America amid continued volatility in local currencies. As of the end of the second quarter of 2026, Tether reported approximately $184.6 billion in USDT in circulation, representing more than 60% of the global stablecoin market.
Plenti's offering includes international transactions, yield on balances of up to 8% EA, and fractional investing starting at $6 in U.S. exchange-listed stocks, ETFs, and crypto assets. According to Martín Peláez, co-founder and CTO of Plenti, 'We raised $3 million for an operation that already moves more than $3.1 billion a year. We didn’t need capital to grow in Colombia, we raised it to accelerate and bring the model to new markets.'
