Tether Expands Self-Custodial Strategy Across Africa and GCC with Shiga Partnership
Tether has expanded its financial infrastructure in Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) through a new partnership with Shiga to launch self-custodial products for individuals, businesses, and institutions.
The collaboration will deploy two self-custodial products, ENTA and Pulse, using Tether's Wallet Development Kit (WDK). ENTA is designed for individuals, high-net-worth users, and businesses, while Pulse targets banks, fintech companies, and other institutions.
Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that WDK 'gives companies the tools to build financial products that keep users in control of their assets.' He added that this collaboration will extend access to USD₮, Bitcoin, and XAU₮ while giving banks and fintech companies flexibility to build around customer needs.
The average cost of sending remittances to Sub-Saharan Africa reached 8.46% in 2025, highlighting the importance of payment infrastructure in these markets.
