Tether Freezes $550M in Iran-Linked Funds Amid Sanctions Enforcement
Tether has frozen nearly $550 million in USDT this year after U.S. authorities identified links to Iranian sanctions networks.
The freezes came in response to U.S. authorities and OFAC linking wallets to Iran's central bank and other Iranian entities, including a $344 million freeze in April and a $130 million freeze in July across four TRON wallets.
Tether says its cooperation with authorities has aided thousands of investigations worldwide, including work with Israel's counterterrorism unit to freeze about $22 million across 40 cases involving hundreds of addresses.
