Tether Helps Freeze $550M in Iran-Linked USDT Amid Regulatory Crackdown
Tether has helped US authorities freeze nearly $550 million in Iran-linked USDT this year.
The company detailed two instances of this action. In April, Tether locked more than $344 million in USDT across two TRON addresses after receiving information from the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and law enforcement. Those addresses were added to the Central Bank of Iran sanctions entry on April 24.
Tether did not specify how these actions align with its overall goals or any potential future actions it may take in regards to USDT compliance.
