Tether Partners with Pave Bank and GFTN on Georgia-Singapore Fintech Scholars Programme
Tether has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pave Bank and the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) to create the Georgia-Singapore Fintech Scholars Programme.
The program will send select undergraduates from Tbilisi State University in Georgia to Singapore Management University for a semester of fintech-focused study. The MoU was signed on July 22 and is set to launch in January 2027, running for five years.
This partnership brings together the world's largest stablecoin issuer, a digital-native bank, and a cross-border fintech organization to fund university scholarships. Tether has been cultivating ties with Georgia since at least 2023, when the company entered discussions with the Georgian government about blockchain infrastructure and a potential lari-pegged stablecoin.
The five-year commitment is significant, as most corporate MoUs in the crypto space have a short shelf life. However, this program represents a continuation of Tether's strategy to diversify beyond pure stablecoin operations, which has included investments in mining, AI infrastructure, and technology.
