Tether Partners with Shiga to Launch Self-Custodial Products Across Africa and GCC
Tether has partnered with Shiga to launch self-custodial financial products for individuals and institutions in Africa and the GCC. The collaboration builds on Tether's 2025 investment in Shiga, which aimed to expand blockchain-based financial infrastructure across Africa.
The new initiative marks a significant step forward, allowing users to control their assets directly through self-custodial wallets built on Tether's Wallet Development Kit (WDK). This technology will give institutions the flexibility to build services tailored to specific markets and payment corridors.
The products, ENTA and Pulse, aim to address issues such as currency volatility and high remittance costs. ENTA will enable individuals and businesses to fund self-custodial wallets with local currency or US dollars, while Pulse will allow institutions to build digital asset products around specific payment corridors.
