Tether Posts Record Operating Profit, Boosts Gold Reserves Amid Stablecoin Market Dominance
Tether, the company behind the world's largest stablecoin USDT, reported $1.5 billion in operating profit for Q2 2025.
This figure was driven primarily by interest income from U.S. Treasuries and repurchase agreements.
The company's reserve buffer now stands at a surplus of approximately $4.11 billion, providing additional assurance for USDT holders.
Tether has also reduced its secured loans by $2.38 billion during the quarter, continuing a trend of de-risking its portfolio.
In addition to these financial highlights, Tether purchased 14 tons of physical gold in Q2 2025, bringing its total holdings to over 146 tons, valued at more than $8 billion based on current market prices.
