Tether Teams with Nairobi Securities Exchange on Blockchain-Driven Market Reform

Share

Tether, the global stablecoin behemoth, has signed an exploratory Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), a major East African stock exchange. The partnership aims to test blockchain-based market infrastructure and tokenize traditional financial securities using Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).

The MoU sets out a roadmap for collaboration between Tether's proprietary Hadron platform and the NSE, focusing on tokenization, instant settlement, and fractional ownership of stocks.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino emphasized that digital assets are evolving 'from crypto into real-life applications and, ultimately, cross-border institutional finance.'

The Nairobi-Tether pact is a significant leap for Africa's fintech sector, with the potential to solve chronic inefficiencies in traditional stock exchanges and democratize market access.
