Tether, TRON, and TRM Labs have formed an unlikely alliance to tackle illicit activities on the TRON blockchain. The new unit, called the T3 Financial Crime Unit (T3 FCU), aims to combat misuse of USDT, the largest stablecoin in circulation.

The collaboration comes as USDT usage surges, surpassing Visa's transaction volume. In countries with weak economies, people are turning to USDT as a hedge against inflation.

The T3 FCU has already made an impact, freezing over $12 million linked to scams. TRON founder Justin Sun emphasized the importance of using technology for good, stating 'This collaboration sends a clear message: illicit activity isn't welcome in our industry.'

Tether has been proactive in fighting financial crime, helping the U.S. Department of Justice recover $5 million in USDT earlier this year.
