Tether's Stablecoin Reserves Reap Record Yield
Tether's stablecoin reserves have generated significant income since May 2021, according to data from DefiLlama. The company reported that Tether generated around $19.6 billion in yield from its USDT backing assets during this period. This figure far surpasses the $7.4 billion generated by Circle's USDC over a shorter period beginning in July 2022.
The differing timeframes should be considered when evaluating the two totals, as Tether's data begins in May 2021 while Circle's starts in July 2022. The comparison highlights the scale of yield generated from stablecoin reserves and underscores their importance as a financial metric for issuers.
