Tether's USDT Returns to Bitcoin with Multiple Infrastructure Routes
Tether's USDT stablecoin is making a comeback on Bitcoin infrastructure. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, confirmed in a recent post that 'USDT on Bitcoin' is coming home.
The announcement reignites the company's broader push to place its dollar-pegged token directly across Bitcoin's network. This plan has been in the works since 2023, when USDT stopped minting on Omni Layer and began shifting usage to newer infrastructure designed for payments and asset issuance.
Tether has invested heavily in building multiple Bitcoin-linked routes for USDT, including Bitcoin's base layer, Lightning Network payments, and RGB asset protocol. The company's latest statement suggests that these separate tracks remain active rather than abandoned.
