Texas Surges as Pro-Crypto Policies Boost US Tech Hubs
The Draper Innovation Index has released its latest rankings for US states based on their innovation and tech growth. The index, which evaluates tax environment, startup incentives, and venture capital investment volume, shows that pro-crypto policies are driving startup growth across the country.
Texas rose to fourth place in the national ranking, driven by a combination of capital flows dedicated to blockchain projects and a growing rate of business incorporation. Oklahoma also made significant gains, positioning itself 15th in the overall classification, thanks to growth in startup creation and an increase in funding aimed at the crypto sector.
In contrast, traditional tech hubs suffered setbacks in the indicator. California dropped to 31st place, while New York plummeted to 49th place due to a slowdown in new business formation and strict regulatory frameworks. The report suggests that tax burden and regulatory complexity may be discouraging the establishment of ventures linked to digital assets.
New Hampshire placed third in the overall index, despite ranking 40th in gross domestic product and 42nd in population size. A favorable tax environment and regulations aimed at promoting emerging companies strengthened the state's competitiveness.
