Thai Police Nab Chinese Suspect Over $4.7M USDT Theft
A 30-year-old Chinese national was arrested in Pattaya by Thai police for allegedly stealing about 4.707 million USDT from an OKX user account.
The suspect, who entered Thailand on a tourist visa in July 2024, is accused of using digital impersonation and SIM-card fraud to carry out the operation.
According to Guangdong police, the group used self-developed AI face-swapping and camera software to impersonate the victim and gain access to their account. They then reported the victim's SIM card as lost and obtained a replacement, allowing them to receive SMS one-time passwords and transfer the assets.
