A hacker linked to Bitget's $387.5 million security breach on September 24 swapped 2,390 ETH ($6.3 million) for 75.2 BTC through THORChain on Monday.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen asked THORChain to block the attacker's addresses, but the protocol refused, citing that it treats all users equally and does not freeze funds based on their origin.

THORChain compared itself to Bitcoin and Ethereum, stating that these systems also do not block stolen funds. The protocol pointed out that its emergency halt in May was different from blocking outside stolen funds, as the $10.7 million loss was from one of its own accounts called a vault.
