Three-Quarters of US Banks Embracing Blockchain Finance
A new survey by Uphold reveals that 75% of American banks are actively working on blockchain finance programs. The research, conducted in July and August 2026, found that 22% of these institutions have live or scaling projects, while an additional 53% are piloting or assessing specific use cases.
The survey also shows that three quarters of U.S. banks confirm digital asset programs, with the majority focusing on digital wallets, custody, and buy/sell/hold for wealth management. Key challenges to adoption include cybersecurity concerns, risk management worries, and regulatory uncertainty/compliance requirements.
Simon McLoughlin, CEO of Uphold, stated that 'blockchain powers cheaper, faster, and better financial services' and noted that the survey shows promise moving from theory to practice as institutions commit capital and talent to blockchain-based infrastructure.'
