Tianjin Firm Unveils Ambitious Ground Mobility Platform
Tianjin-based Galileo Robotics unveiled its ambitious project, Galileo X, at the World Robot Conference 2026 in Beijing. The platform combines wheeled and legged robot capabilities to handle indoor transport, off-road travel, and complex terrain.
Galileo X has four articulated legs, each terminating in a wheel, allowing it to roll on flat surfaces and step over obstacles when needed. The target payload capacity is approximately 200 kg, with joints that can rotate fully 360 degrees for posture adjustments and maneuvers.
The platform's Unified Embodied Ground Mobility System enables a single hardware architecture and control framework bridging wheeled, vehicle-grade, and legged kinematics. Galileo plans to release open hardware and software interfaces for third-party algorithm developers and system integrators.
While the demo showed impressive capabilities, questions remain about commercial performance. No pricing or delivery timeline has been disclosed, and independent benchmark data is lacking. System integrators and logistics operators are still waiting for a full spec sheet to support procurement decisions.
