TMTG Cancels Billion-Dollar Crypto Deals in Favor of Energy Merger

US President Donald Trump's company, TMTG, has pulled out of a deal with Crypto.com to create a multibillion-dollar CRO treasury. The agreement aimed at integrating prediction markets into Truth Social was also cancelled. According to the source, TMTG will instead focus on a merger with energy company TAE.

The decision was reportedly made due to 'prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities'. This move comes after TMTG announced its plans in September 2025 to purchase billions of dollars worth of CRO tokens. The deal would have allowed Truth Social users to receive crypto rewards, with an estimated $6.4 billion CRO treasury on the line.

TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGurn stated that the company will unwind both agreements with Crypto.com. This news marks a shift in priorities for TMTG as it moves forward with its merger plans.
