Tokenization Booms as GENIUS Act Paves Way for RWA Growth
The passage of the GENIUS Act has sent shockwaves through the tokenization industry, with executives predicting a boom in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. According to Aptos Labs executive Solomon Tesfaye, the legislation will boost institutional confidence and drive growth in the 260 billion stablecoin market.
Currently, private credit dominates 60% of the 24 billion RWA market, with tokenized U.S. Treasuries making up 28%. Aptos blockchain has emerged as a major RWA hub, with over 540 million in tokenized assets, including BlackRock's BUIDL fund.
Tesfaye expects the favorable regulatory environment to create a foundation for entirely new financial products and global RWA participation. He also predicts expansion into derivatives, IP, and esoteric asset classes as infrastructure matures.
