Tokenized Equities Reach $3 Billion, Paving the Way for 24/7 Trading
Tokenized equities, a type of blockchain-based stock, have reached a significant milestone in 2026, with a market value of over $3 billion and growing rapidly.
In September, the tokenized stock market crossed the $3 billion mark, with the sector emerging as one of the fastest-growing areas of real-world asset tokenization.
More than 1 million holders now hold tokenized stock exposure across blockchain markets, and trading volume has increased sharply, with monthly trading volume rising from 7 million in January to $900 million in August.
Tokenized equities are seeing a sharp increase in trading activity, with the underlying asset base expanding, and on-chain transfer activity has expanded sharply during 2026, with Q3 tokenized-stock transfers reaching approximately $1 billion.
The move toward continuous equity access is no longer confined to blockchain-native companies, with Robinhood preparing weekend trading for selected U.S. stocks and ETFs and Nasdaq developing an always-on market model with longer weekday trading.
However, 24/7 trading still depends on liquidity, and tokenized venues are more dependent on dedicated market makers and liquidity pools when U.S. exchanges are closed.
