Tokenized Stocks Go Mainstream as Financial Institutions Build Critical Infrastructure
Tokenized stocks are no longer just a crypto experiment, but rather a mainstream financial infrastructure initiative. Major financial institutions such as Nasdaq, DTCC, Robinhood, Kraken, and Ondos are building critical infrastructure around tokenized securities.
The main reason for this adoption is the value proposition around operations, specifically programmability, portability, and on-chain settlement enabled by blockchain technology.
Nasdaq, in particular, is focused on bringing public equities into blockchain-based markets with its planned Nasdaq Equity Tokens product. This will provide a link between issuers and tokenized versions of their stocks.
DTCC, another critical pillar of US market infrastructure, is also working to adopt tokenization, connecting blockchain-based representations of assets with custody and settlement systems to reduce complexity for the industry.
