Tokenized Stocks Surge to $3.96 Billion in Weekend Trading Volume
Tokenized stocks have seen a massive surge in trading volume on decentralized exchanges (DEXs), reaching $3.96 billion over the weekend in September. This marks a staggering 106x increase since November, highlighting the growing interest in these blockchain-based representations of traditional equities.
Over the Labor Day weekend alone, tokenized stocks generated over $1 billion in volume, matching typical daily trading levels. In one September snapshot, weekend volume hit roughly $2.95 billion within a broader 30-day total of $15.75 billion. The category has grown from a negligible 0.1% of DEX spot volume at the end of 2025 to over 4% in 2026.
The active market capitalization for tokenized equities reached approximately $4 billion in September 2026, a 314% year-to-date increase. Total value locked (TVL) for these assets rose from $21.6 million in January to $289 million by September. Monthly trading volume estimates ranged between $7.9 billion and $18 billion as of late 2026, with cumulative DEX volume between $15.9 billion and $20.9 billion.
Major issuers include bStocks on BNB Chain, xStocks on Solana, and offerings from Robinhood. Trading primarily occurs on Uniswap (v3 and v4), Raydium, and PancakeSwap. Uniswap handled around 60% of volume in one reporting period, while BNB Chain’s bStocks captured over 90% during peak times.
Tokenized equities are now competing with meme coins within DeFi, though they remain far behind traditional stock markets. The category’s $4 billion market cap is substantial for on-chain assets but tiny compared to the equities they track. Liquidity is spread across multiple blockchains and issuers, with TVL growth indicating users are building positions and providing liquidity.
