Tokenizing Maritime Shipping Funds: A New Era for Accessible Asset Ownership
Commercial maritime shipping has traditionally been an exclusive and capital-intensive asset class, with single dry bulk carriers or container ships costing between $30 million to over $100 million.
Saeed Bin Saleh Al-Marri, CEO of Ethra Invest and Ethra Ship, is attempting to change this by pairing real-world asset (RWA) tokenization with conservative private equity discipline.
By fractionalizing physical assets on the blockchain, Al-Marri's approach allows smaller investors to access previously unreachable markets, reducing barriers to entry and making ownership records more efficient.
However, Al-Marri cautions that tokenization is neither a loophole around regulatory guardrails nor a magic cure for asset illiquidity.
