Tom Lee Bets Big on Ethereum's Long Consolidation
Tom Lee believes that Ethereum's five-year consolidation period is not a sign of weakness but rather a setup for a major price rally. In recent Ethereum news, ETH has been trading near $2,650 after a modest 3% dip over the past 24 hours.
The broader range within which ETH has been moving for much of the past five years is between $1,500 and $1,600, with rallies towards $4,000 in 2024 failing to hold. However, Lee sees this period as accumulation rather than stagnation, a base-building process that historically precedes outsized breakouts.
Lee's endorsement of the consolidation-as-launchpad thesis comes at an interesting time, given broader sentiment has been cautious due to regulatory and security headlines dominating the news cycle.
ETH's daily chart shows a strong recovery since the summer, with the price climbing from lows near $1,550 in June to briefly tag the $2,800 area this week. Sellers stepped in there, and ETH pulled back toward $2,650.
