Tom Lee Doubles Down on Ethereum Forecast of $22,000 to $62,000
Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat and chair of Bitmine Immersion Technologies, has doubled down on his bullish stance on Ethereum, backing his firm's $16 billion investment in ether this year. Ethereum closed above $2,700 for the first time in nine months, with traders targeting the $3,300 to $3,400 zone next. Lee highlighted ether's outperformance, noting it surpassed the S&P 500 by nearly 5,900 basis points in the third quarter of 2026, despite a challenging macroeconomic environment.
Lee's price targets for Ethereum remain ambitious, with a base case of $22,000 if ether's price reflects its historical ratio to Bitcoin at Lee's $250,000 BTC target. His higher-conviction scenario projects ether reaching $62,000, a level contingent on the ETH to BTC ratio climbing to 0.25. Some critics argue this assumption is overly optimistic, with analysts from The Motley Fool and CoinDesk questioning the feasibility of a $250,000 ether price.
Lee's confidence is underpinned by three key pillars: stablecoin settlement, real-world asset tokenization, and staking income. Over 60% of stablecoins, worth $147 billion, settle on Ethereum, while Bitmine earns more than $300 million annually in staking rewards. The company has amassed roughly 6 million ETH tokens, about 4.9% of the circulating supply, through a significant equity buyback. Lee maintains that these factors position Ethereum as more than a speculative asset, pointing to its role in tokenized assets and AI-driven commerce.
Despite skepticism, Lee's track record of early but accurate predictions adds weight to his arguments. The recent $2,700 close suggests the market is no longer actively betting against Ethereum's potential. However, his near-term forecasts have shifted, with $3,000 as the next waypoint and $60,000 reachable within a couple of years.
