Trading 212 Names Revolut Alum to Lead Portuguese Operations

Trading 212 has appointed Ricardo Soares as its Country Manager for Portugal. This marks the first time the UK-based fintech has named a dedicated executive to oversee the Portuguese market, where its localised YouTube channel boasts over 155,000 followers.

Soares joins Trading 212 after nearly three years at Revolut, where he served as Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager. Before that, he held positions at Portugal's national securities regulator (CMVM) and central bank risk advisor.

The appointment is part of a wider trend in the industry, with regulatory and risk experts being brought in to lead local units amidst heightened EU scrutiny. Recent hires include Crypto.com and Kraken's MiFID entities, as well as Revolut's crypto division.
