Treasury Intervention Fuels Bitcoin Rally Amid Massive ETF Inflows
Bitcoin's recent surge above $71,000 has been accompanied by a wave of short liquidations and massive inflows into Bitcoin ETFs. The rally is attributed to various factors, including the U.S. Treasury's decision to significantly expand its purchases of long-dated government bonds.
The surprise move helped ease one of the biggest macro headwinds facing Bitcoin, as Treasury yields dropped sharply and the dollar weakened. This environment has made risk assets less attractive, but it also provided a positive signal for crypto markets.
According to Jan3 CEO Samson Mow, 'the market smells blood,' indicating that investors are taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the rally. However, not everyone is convinced, as longtime Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff has argued that the move above $72,000 was a 'fakeout, not a breakout.'
