Tremonton City Council Bans Bitcoin Kiosks Amid Scam Concerns
Tremonton City Council has approved an ordinance to remove Bitcoin kiosks from within city limits. The decision was made during a meeting held on August 4.
The proposal, brought forward by Chief of Police Dustin Cordova, aims to combat the increasing number of scams in the area where citizens are targeted via phone calls and directed to local Bitcoin machines with scare tactics.
Cordova emphasized that these kiosks would not affect traditional bank ATMs but rather specifically target Bitcoin transactions. 'You can't do that with cryptocurrency,' Cordova said, explaining that once a transaction is made, the funds become untraceable and irretrievable.
