Trezor Activates ERC-7730 Standard for Clear Transaction Signing

Share

Trezor, a leading hardware wallet manufacturer, has activated the ERC-7730 standard on its Safe wallets and Model T device. This upgrade enhances transaction security by providing users with clear, readable information about what they're signing before approving it.

The ERC-7730 standard decodes smart contract calls into plain-language descriptions of actions, token amounts, and destination addresses, replacing the unreadable hexadecimal data that previously appeared on screens.

This upgrade is part of a broader effort to mitigate blind signing, a security risk linked to some of crypto's most expensive hacks. Blind signing occurs when users approve transactions without verifying what they actually contain, leaving them vulnerable to phishing sites or compromised browser extensions.
