TRON has activated a major upgrade to its network that brings it closer to Ethereum. Proposal 107, which passed with 25 approvals, took effect on August 28 and includes features from Ethereum's Prague and Osaka updates.

The update introduces the TRON Virtual Machine to use fewer barriers for Ethereum applications to join the network. Developers now have less software to adjust when moving an application from one blockchain to another, making it easier for teams that already build Ethereum apps to adapt to TRON.

The upgrade also enables an application to look further back in the blockchain to verify transactions previously made, which will help services rely less on data providers. This feature is significant for applications where earlier transactions need to be confirmed.

The network now supports passkeys instead of conventional passwords, allowing users to sign in using security features built into phones or computers, such as fingerprints, facial recognition, or PINs.
