Tron Founder Claims Victory Over WLF, But Stablecoin Issuer Disputes Claim
Justin Sun, founder of Tron, claims to have won a hearing in California against World Liberty Financial (WLF), but WLF disputes this claim. According to Sun's social media post, his lawyers secured a victory at the federal court hearing, with the judge rejecting WLF's request to move the case to private arbitration and keep documents out of the public domain.
The dispute centers on $45 million in withheld tokens, which Tron founder Justin Sun accused WLF of illegally withholding after rejecting an additional investment offer of $200 million. WLF maintains that the withholding was a response to security procedures triggered by suspicious on-chain activity and the signing of a Token Unlock Agreement.
The case raises questions about the power to freeze user funds, with implications extending beyond the two parties involved. The stablecoin USD1 has nearly $4 billion in circulation across multiple blockchains, amplifying the potential impact of any ruling. Zach Witkoff, co-founder of WLF, responded to Sun's post, stating that it was 'riddled with falsehoods' and that the court issued no order whatsoever.
